Hampstead, one of the most beautiful, atmospheric and verdant corners of London, has for the last few hundred years, attracted so many prominent writers, artists and intellectuals.
It has always been and continues to be a magnet for the famous, the fashionable and artistic. Spend the afternoon wandering through what feels like a country village but is near to the centre of the city and you will soon realise the area’s attraction. It is London’s secret village and the city’s most picturesque neighbourhood.
Explore its cobbled streets packed with artistic history. We will walk in the footsteps of some illustrious figures and see the former homes of John Constable, John Keats, Robert Louis Stevenson, Daphne Du Maurier, HG Wells, Elizabeth Taylor, Judy Dench and the house that inspired the book of Mary Poppins.
We will venture into the atmospheric Vale of Heath, part of the magnificent Hampstead Heath with its 800 acres of untamed woodland, to see the home of D H Lawrence. During the walk, we pass historic pubs, atmospheric churchyards, elegant old manor houses and attractive cottages and will take in some of the most spectacular views of the city.
