My private tour around the British Museum is an opportunity to see some of the world’s most extraordinary treasures and my privilege to show them to you.
It’s a collection of over 8 million artefacts, so please make it easier on yourselves by letting me devise a tour which enables you to see those most influential or most beautiful of objects which contribute to our understanding of the human race. It also allows you to relax and take it all in!
Having introduced you to the building, an impressive sight in itself, we will be ready to take a tour around the world in approximately two and a half hours. We’ll have a short refreshment break at about halfway around before re-commencing.
On our travels, we’ll see amongst many things the magnificent Rosetta Stone, the Parthenon Marbles, the finest Assyrian art in the form of a lion hunt and a statue of the mighty Pharaoh Rameses 11. Alongside the artefacts themselves, you’ll hear about some of the extraordinary people who found and claimed them.
While you’ll see objects from the far-flung corners of the world, I certainly won’t neglect the treasure found on these shores, including the astonishing Sutton Hoo finds with its highly skilled craftsmanship in metal or the exquisitely carved Lewis Chessmen.
