An action-packed walking tour where you will see most of the famous sites that make London so special in just one day and learn about its great history.
The walking tour will pass by Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament, 10 Downing Street (home of the Prime Minister) and Trafalgar Square with its colourful pavement artists and street musicians.
We will then cross the River Thames and walk along the South Bank, passing London Eye and the National Theatre before reaching Shakespeare’s Globe.
We will then go a short distance by riverboat and disembark at the Tower of London, a UNESCO world heritage site and an opportunity to take photos outside the Tower at the famous Traitors Gate and hear about the Tower’s dark history.
The above covers all the traditional sites. The latter part of the day offers something different and not on the usual tourist trail. Walking alongside the Tower and the iconic Tower Bridge, we enter the area of Wapping, a corner of London rich in maritime history and brimming with stories.
As we wander through the narrow streets, packed with wonderfully restored warehouses, we will delve into its past, learn about the world’s first police force, hear tales about pirates, see ‘Execution Dock’ and a chance to end the day in one of London’s oldest pubs, often frequented by Charles Dickens, overlooking the River Thames with some of the best riverside views in London.
