Spend one day in Barra da Tijuca, a new, modern area in Rio and get to know beautiful places, not often visited by tourists. This area is where a part of the Olympic venues was.
In this exuberant area, we are going to stop where the hang gliders land in São Conrado, at a beach called Cucumber Beach and if you are an adventurous person, you can experience hang gliding.
Then, we'll head to Barra da Tijuca and stop at one of the beautiful lagoons in the area. Here you have two options:
1. We will take a fishing boat either to one of the islands in the lagoon to have lunch at one of the restaurants on the islands and stop to see the alligators, capivaras (the biggest rodent in the world native from South America), storks, ducks and a whole lot of different animals.
2. Or take a boat to another lagoon and have lunch at a restaurant in Barra Beach and go for a swim there.
After this, if you want more thrill, you can get a 30-minute helicopter flight (price 540 USD) over the most beautiful beaches in Rio above some of the most famous slums (favelas) and going to the Christ the Redeemer to see it from an angle only a few people do.
